The whole point of the thumbs up or down is to show if the answer is good or bad. When someone just says something stupid its counter productive. Its not like I'm going to follow you around yahoo! answers and give all your answers a thumbs down. Not today anyway ;)

No. That would cause people to stop giving thumbs down. That would defeat the whole purpose of the rating system. What they should do though is let people leave you feedback when they give you a thumbs down. If they could explain why your answer is bad, you just might learn something and that's what answers is really about.

No because even if you knew who it was it wouldn't anything about it and it just shows how immature you are because you can't handle it on your own. I mean come on, who cares if you get a thumbs down, it isn't gonna change anything and you don't even know the person who did it. Also the thing is based on the person who gave you the rating, maybe they didn't like their answer, are you such an ignorant fool that you would toss aside their opinion on your answer and block them just because they think differently than you?

Yes, people just put a thumbs down just for fun.

So, if someone gives you a thumbs down because they are being honest in showing their displeasure at your question or answer, you'd block them?
Why bother even coming here if all you want is the answers you want, not honest ones? This isn't a 7th grade dance.
Pffft.

It would be nice sometimes. I have recieved a thumbs down before and I have no idea why. I have to assume it's simply because someone didn't like my answer. Or maybe they need to enter a reason for a thumbs down.

No. If you only want to deal with people who agree with you, start your own message board and block any poster who dares to have a different opinion.

Nope, because then you would not get to have the fun of knowing who agrees and disagrees with your thoughts. Everyone thinks different, would be so boring if everyone had the same opinion.

I always wondered about that - if you feel strongly enough to give the thumbs up or down why not own up to it....
I wouldn't block someone for a thumbs down though....

I think that's a great idea. Then they should go one step further and let us block those we don't care for, from reading our questions! There are a lot of Not-Rights on this site who have hurt a lot of feelings! Blocking that ability to damage someones spirit is a wonderful idea! Okay...a star for you today! Annie
