Could and most likely only be the thermostat in which case you can change it for about $10. If the radiator is not leaking it is doubtful that that is the problem. If not the thermostat (which I am pretty sure is the problem) next in line is the water pump.

A new rad should cost no more than $300. Labour rates vary but figure another $150-200 on top of the radiator. Before replacing the radiator check the coolant level and condition and replace if it's dirty or you can't remember when it was last changed. Check the radiator cap, water pump, cooling fan, hoses and thermostat. Those can all cause the car to overheat. Make sure you are not leaking coolant. If everything looks okay do a compression check to see if the headgasket is cracked. You can look at the rad to see its conditon and spot leaks. Chances are you will notice coolant on the ground where the car is parked.

A new radiator is anywhere from $115 to $350 at autozone (http://autozone.com/N,16300172/shopping/partTypeResultSet.htm). Just bring it into a shop (if you haven't already), though, and ask them to take a quick look at it, they won't charge you anything.
