It's not all of them, but there are A LOT of them that have pink skin (like a pig) and there's all kinds of brownish freckles too. Is this where the term "red neck" comes from?

I'm not trying to be rude but I don't think it's the blood under their skin. How could that be when they are PINK all over their bodies???
.
I'm not trying to be rude, but it just looks weird. Ok, actually I think it's gross. I'm just so glad that I have a good brown skin tone.

Celene, don't get mad at me. I can't help it that I'm not that color. I just think it looks strange for a person to be pink (close to red) in color. It makes me think of santa claus or something. I'm not racist!

Many white people feel very sensitive when someone such as yourself points out their skin color. Yet, those very same people are the hypocrites who use labels such as "Blacks" and "people of color" to draw attention to the skin color of others, and other labels such as "Asian" to point to facial features that are different from their own. Whites too often racialize others, yet they don't like it when people racialize Whites or point out their skin color and that they also have an ethnicity. Whites like it when people act as if Whites are the normal people and as if Whites do not have ethnicity and race or skin color.

I think it is best not racialize people at all. I don't find your question offensive, however. What I find offensive is the hypocrisy of many Whites who quickly feel offended by questions such as yours, but they do not acknowldge that they also notice the color of others.

Excellent question! Degrees of pigmentation.

The term "redneck" refers to a sunburned neck. Non-whites
develop sunburn the same as lighter skinned people, the difference is that in darker skinned people, their skin becomes darker.

Redneck is also a racial term.

I think it might be because of extreme paleness.

I'm really pale, and light sensitive, and my skin is sometimes red if I get too hot or stay in Sun too long.

It might even be a genetic mutation! Which is way rad.

Okay I am seriously offended this was a very rude question...
It's called genetics, hon, it's why we all look different and I'm sorry that you have an issue with like 25% of people's skin color (percentage is probably wrong...) and that we can't all be the same color as you I know it must be tough...

Yeah, I noticed that too. I am white too but I don't have pink skin. My fiancee is black and has got the most gorgeous brown skin. I just love the brown sugar, I can't handle paleness.

This is just the blood in their face....more easily visible than in darker skin. And, I don't believe that's where 'redneck' comes from.

Whoa, hey if this is just to get people kind of pissed off, you're a real pro! Congratulations! When I tried looking up your past questions, they were private! Wow! Well done! You're the smartest troll ever!

OK - here's a serious answer.

Just as people who have been referred to as blacks don't have black skin - rather various shades of brown; people who are referred to as whites don't have white skin - rather a pink tinged beige in various shades. The only people who might end up having white skin are those who have a pigmentation problem. They are called albinos

Some pigmentation is due to heredity or genetics, while some is due to sun exposure - whether inadvertent or on purpose. Freckles can be hereditary, or caused by the sun.

As for the term redneck there are several schools of thought about how it originated:

1. It came to America with the Scottish & Irish who
were called rednecks because of the red cloths
they wore on their necks to symbolize they did not
agree with the Church of England.

2. Poor white farmers who worked in the fields all
day in the blazing sun of the southern states of
America ended up with the back of their necks
being permanently reddened by the sun by the
time they reached their 30s.

3. Again, those who labored in the farm fields in
the southern American states where the soil is
a red clay ened up with reddened necks.

Take your pick of which story to believe. Maybe its a combination of all of them.

I never understood how you humans label one another. The ones who are called "white" are more pink, as you had stated your self. The ones who are called "black" are actually different shades of brown, depending on the individual. You're all the same to us dogs, regardless of the breed.
