I didn't break it, but if I could mend one thing it would be my mother's heart. She died of a heart attack a few months back. So I'd mend her heart, so that she'd still be here . . .

I would mend the hearts of those I care about around me, so then maybe we could stop apologising for the mistakes and scars left by those before and remove the way it taints our relationships now.

I would break the silences of the words we never openly speak, yet it is written on the lines of everyones face.

I would mend the burnt bridges of broken friendships and glue and stick everyone back together so they are whole again

Ready for a specific laugh -? When I first cracked into computers back in February of 2006, I had an old 1996 IBM Aptiva (all black, monitor, tuck-under case, keypad and mouse, Windows 95, &.) GIVEN to me. While I was teaching myself how to use it, I accidentally wiped out the MIDI driver(s) and lost all audio. Because I am 63 and because I am so new to computers and how they work, I have yet to figure out how to reinstall the sound component or audio, short of uninstalling and doing a "clean install" of the Windows 95 all over again (help me, anyone?) but one day - I promised God I would faithfully return this computer to its original wonderful state because it is my first computer, and I love it for that reason. I live in Maine, in the U.S.A., and we always save everything, throw out nothing, fix everything. Yes, we are all probably pack rats because of this.

My relationship with my mom and my family. I mean, we have a good relationship now, but it could be so much better if I just accept that some things are not going to change and learn to roll with the punches.

My belief in happy endings. I'm slowly getting that back from a friend but it's been a long time since I've ever considered that I would get one. He's slowly showing me that it is possible and his infinite patience with all my arguments against it happening really amazes me and I respect him tremendously for it.

A plate my sister made for me. It was on my wall for years and my husband knocked it off (by accident).

I will never have another one like it again - she made it for me and it really meant a lot.

I can't be angry with my husband as it was an accident - but I am still upset about it.
