When administering pure O2 to an individual, you provide a high concentration of oxygen so the blood cells are fully oxygenated allowing for your lungs to pump highly oxygenated blood to the rest of the organs. We monitor O2 levels with a pulse oximeter and ensure we don't over oxygenate, although oxygen does not cause harm in the short term. O2 is the best medicine! Air which we breathe contains 21% O2, enough to sustain life.

I Bought a cylinder of 100% oxygen . Just inspired by the bars where you breath 60% and pay 2 dollar per minute. You don´t get hang over.
I don´t breath more than 30 min to 1 Hour per day and I will tell you, my life have improve drastically !
- Weird as it sound. Now I only sleep 4 or 5 hours per day. I wake up like I have slept 10 hours.
- If I breath after a long and tire day of work. I feel like nothing has happened.
- I work out a lot. I´m telling you. When I get back from the gym I AM TIRED. IF I breath 20 min I feel that I drank 1 litter (32oz) of redbull. I feel very energized !
- I feel more focus in my work but it could be a placebo effect.
Anyway, I got a really good deal on the cylinder that´s why I bought it (it´s kind of expensive dough) , here in Brazil you can buy pure oxygen with no problem. At first I thought I was crazy or something but now I don´t think I will ever resell it .

Contrary to what the people say, YOU WILL NOT DIE. At least not for a while.

If you breathed 100 percent oxygen for days and days, then you might increase the risk of damaging your lungs. We try to limit the amount of oxygen that you receive. That being said, some people need high dose oxygen to maintain their levels up. I guess you could die from breathing 100% oxygen, but it would take a long long while. And, as the above poster said, high oxygen levels can cause eye damage, but only in very premature children.

As far as what you'd feel, you'd feel the same. Your body is extremely efficient at extracting oxygen from the air. You extract as much oxygen you need just breathing regular air. In a healthy person, breathing 100% oxygen will not do anything for the amount of oxygen taken up by the blood and delivered to the organs.

The atmosophere consists of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 1% argon, + small amounts of carbon dioxide, water vapor etc.

They would temporarily experience a slight elevation in their mental faculties--faster thought, more alacrity, and a heightened self-awareness. This is due to the increase of oxygen being delivered to the brain. They would also feel invigorated as their muscles got more oxygen. However, this would wear off the more they breathed such an atmosphere, as their red blood cell count would decrease as their body adapted to it. Conversely, people living in the mountains where there is less oxygen will develop a higher red blood cell count to increase the likely hood of oxygen binding to hemoglobin. When they come down from the mountain, they would experience effects similar to the ones listed above before their red blood cell count adjusted. Many space ships utilize a pure oxygen environment, but decrease the atmospheric pressure. Astronauts may get more oxygen as a result, but their lungs have to work harder to function. The pure oxygen environment has two benefits for space travel: a pure oxygen environment only needs one-fifth the atmospheric pressure, so one-fifth the gas means increased fuel efficiency; the second benefit is that a reduced atmospheric pressure means less stress on the ship itself, since a higher pressure increases the risk of rupture in the hull.

Shortt term breathing in pure oxygen will not cause significant harm unless you have COPD/asthma or other pulmonary disease that has altered your respiratory drive. In those cases, breathing in pure oxygen can be detrimental. In the long run, pure oxygen can cause increase in free radicals that can harm you. Also, there are other cases where pure oxygen has caused blindness and other pathology.

I am not so sure about the immediate effect but i know you will die.

When the oxygen concentration is too high, it will kill your cells in your body.

That is why in the oxygen tank there is a mixture between oxygen and helium.
Helium is light and it will make the tank lighter instead of using other combination of oxygen and other gas.

Apparently, it says this will happen:
-- Fluid accumulates in the lungs.
-- Gas flow across the alveoli slows down, meaning that the person has to breathe more to get enough oxygen.
-- Chest pains occur during deep breathing.
-- The total volume of exchangeable air in the lung decreases by 17 percent.
