Could you imagine someone transported from 1007 A.D. to NYC Times Square in 1,000 years later?? Talk about a total mind fukc... how come there aren't any realistic SCI-FI movies about the future?

What do you think will be some of the major achievements we'll have, or anything else that would be quirky about the future... PEACE

I think the movie Gattaca is a fairly realistic approach to depicting the future, scary as that may be. Basically, genetic engineering has taken over and designer humans become the elite, whilst the "invalids" are left to be treated like 2nd or 3rd class citizens. Humans will start to control their own evolution, and social darwinism kick in in a huge way.

As for the far future, the book/movie The Time Machine, written in the late 19th century, is actually a fairly close fit with Gattaca. In this book, the far future is one in which the dichotomy of good and evil has transformed into the dichotomy of the beautiful and the not. Intelligent pursuit has basically been lost in vanity on one side and brutality on the other.

There are many who wish that they could have been born further in the future. I personally am very happy that I was born in a time of technological advancement to the point we are at right now, but a time in which a person can still find a glacier or two, can see and feel the clean running water of a mountain stream, and can enjoy the immense (and safe to go into!) ocean. These simple joys probably won't be around for the world's designer babies to see.

Experts predict we could live to 120 or 150 years old with a few cures for disease and improved health care.
Imagine having six or seven generations of family living in your house! Our family relations would have to change.
In the last century we went from all everybody being farmers to almost nobody being farmers. As machines do more and more for us, our occupations will become more specialized and abstract. Just as we never imaged how many people would be running web sites or selling cell phones today, we maybe involved in technologies we never dreamed of. Even if global warming is not as bad as some fear, we may be spending more time inside to avoid UV rays. In the year 3000, sunbathing may be a totally lost art. We always find alternative recreation and just finding someplace peaceful and quiet maybe become a real treat.

Well, in nine generations, I would like to think that the Medical Profession will have eradicated most disease. We will probably have a colony on Mars. There will be populated Space Stations Ted Kennedy will still be trying to run Congress. All the Fanatic Muslims will have settled in London and the Queen will have found a way to tax them to silence. War will not exist as it will be too expensive to buy beer for everyone. China will be a wasteland as no people will be there because of the abortion laws. Korea, north and south will have blown themselves up because of nuclear mishaps. Those of us left here on Earth will be pretty much starting over. So much for 3000AD. Blessings on you.

I've always imagined the future just like it is. I doubt anything will be different. We really haven't come that far from the 70s. Say what you want but the only thing that changed is culture and technology. We replaced VCRs and 8-tracks and almost compact discs. What an achievment, I bet the aliens are laughing at us right now.

Well in 2012 Earth will be struck by mass extinction event asteroid. A global ice age will return to the earth for another 12,000 or more years and therefore I would have to suggest someone visited 3000AD may need a winter-coat & gloves.

I think that it will either be 10x better than it is now (environmentally, politically, socially etc.) or it will be absolute hell on earth.
one of the two..i really don't think that there will be a medium.
the middle class will be GONE. disease will probably be vastly prevalent as well..unless between now and then they come up with cures. if they do come up with cures then disease will either be non-existent or the diseases will be much stronger and worse than they are now.
