Have you ever wondered why the U.S. continues to monitor and punish countries who create/obtain materials for nuclear weapons, but feel that it is okay for our Country to possess them?

I see you have some brains Jacqueline.
I have been puzzled by the arguments we use also. Blatant double standards which would be laughed at in our internal dealings.

But I think the quarrel with Iran is really because we want their oil, and the rest is theatre

We are not threatening to blow other countries off the face of the map.

Iran, their president hates Israel and has said it needs to be blown off the face of the map.

N. Korea, Kim Jong Ill is insane, and nuclear weapons are the last thing that needs to be in his hands.

The US has very good control over its nuclear weapons. The US is worried that these unstable countries such as Iran and N. Korea are going to either sell their weapons or launch them into their closest enemies.

Personally, I hate nuclear weapons. I think they all need to be disarmed. But the US is not a threat to free countries. We would never launch a nuclear attack unless there was no other option.

The U.S. is using them for positive purposes, only to stop powers that want to destroy democracy, like the Islamic Jihadists of Iran and the Communists of North Korea. The reasoning here is for the whole world's good, because nuclear weapons do not belong in the wrong hands.

Of course it is right for us to posess them. The only reason we made them was to stop WW2, and the only reason we kept them and continued making them was to stop communism, which all sane people would accept as a righteous thing to do. Decades of having these nukes we have only used them twice for a just cause.

Is the US, Russia, China, France, and Britain saying they want to wipe any countries off the face of the map right now? No, but yes some people inside there need to be cleaned up(terrorists)
However, Iran and North Korea have repeatedly wanted to completely destroy Israel and South Korea respectively, and their first act would be to use them. Want them in the hands of those folks? Wow...........I really hope not.

Nobody should have nuclear weapons!
Every country should get rid of them, it is completely unfair for some countries to have them and forbidding other countries not to have them!
Even to stop WW2, there was no excuse throwing atomic bombs in Japan!

We invented them and have been responsible with them. As long as others have/can get them, it would be irresponsible to get rid of ours. We would like to do that so that means we need to insure no others get it and those that have it lose theirs at the same time we do.

Because we don't threaten the world that we will use them if we don't get what we want. We can be trusted.
