To put all of my 21 yrs working experience as a therapist working with very troubled adolescents in residential treatment facilities. They were all terrific and we, together, found that they could design different direct behavior that obtains their basic Needs--physical and emotional Needs, with positive results!! Overcoming my inertia, however, seems to be the obstracle for me! As I write this, the answer is obvious: simply apply the same method that the young people used to find their way!! At 78, now, when life is comfortable, it's very easy just to enjoy the time with my kids and Grandkids!! I'll see if I can do BOTH! One of the time-savers would be to stop logging in on YAs!

My most passionate purpose is understanding and relating to myself and others the psychology of language use. Everything is a word, literally, and we humans are fast destroying our home, this wonderful earth, because we use language in the way that we do. Language is the most powerful tool that humanity has ever used. Its use can set off nuclear weapons or save children from starvation and disease, but it is what we choose to use it for that becomes what happens in our world. Man's inhumanity to man seems to be our main aim right now.

I once heard passion as the desire for oneness. So we can have a passion for a person, as in the desire to marry ("two become one") Or we can have a passion for art or music or some field of study or hobby, or line of work that just so calls us that we want to become immersed in it, to become so at one with it that our work becomes a sublime expression of that area of life. I'm thinking of how firefighters and pilots are often as consumed with being the best possible because they love what they are doing as much as a musician or an artist. This level of involvement leads one to be more "in the moment" than others might be.
My own passionate purpose is psychology as a field. I'm utterly fascinated by not only the nuts and bolts of the field - as psychometry, and studies of neuropsychology - but also practical applications in the lives of myself and the people around me. I work with developmentally disabled adults, and I'm so grateful to have work that not only pays my bills but also feeds my soul.
