Nothing more than an email account, I have one now and I have only used it once.....Although I have heard people using it as the primary email account they use from there cell phones, but sorry i can't vouch for that. Maybe they are in the process of making a more interesting google but not right now.

I have a google account which allows me to have a custom google homepage with all my favorite widgets and rss feeds on my homepage.
I also use it for my Gmail email account
