I have this OLD vintage indian head penny, it's worth like $50, and I took it to the coin shop here only to find out it had been silver-plated. Is there any way to un-plate something? I thought that because of the way electroplating works, couldn't I just try to plate something else with that penny, thereby REMOVING the plating already on it? Any idaes world be greatly appreciated.

Consult this search list to find the answer that best suits your need. There are many excellent ideas on how to remove silver plating.

I'm not sure what that would do to the value of the coin. I suspect any tampering or damage would lower the value.

Wouldn't it just partially plate them both?
