Hello guys,

My question is about upgrading the memory of my new Gateway. The specs of my computer are:

Intel Core Duo Processor E4300
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
320 GB SATA II Hard Drive
1024 MB DDR2 (512x2)
I got 4 slot for memory

I will like to know if I buy 2, 1GB memory will I still be able to use the two 512 cards together that way I will make my computer 3GB?

Thank you

Boricua

P.S.

I got 4 slots. My question was, would it matter if I used two 1gb and two 512 in the same MOBO by doing this it will take my computer to 3gb instead of 1gb. I want to know if it will post any problems to my system.

it should work. i did it to a gateway and worked. not quite as much memory but the concept is the same. just make sure you use the same kind of ram.

You could add one 512mb pc133 sdram memory module to take your total RAM to 1024mb. Or, remove the two 256mb modules and install three 512mb modules for 1536mb total. Try the Crucial memory site - they have a good routine to help you select new memory modules for your pc - you can buy there or shop around from other vendors. The random freezes are troubling - more RAM will likely improve pc performance with some apps but may have no effect on freeze-ups. I wouldn't count on more RAM as the cure for this problem.

If you have 4 slots then it should map to 3 GB.

Look in the manual that came with your PC. There should be a chart showing how to configure your memory and what the specs. are.
