I hope any betta owners who put there fish in small jars, bowls and vases come back to life as a betta and are treated the same way, I wonder if fish keepers come back as fish. ?

I have owned several Bettas. Some have lived in large vases (1 gallon) and one who lived in a community 5 gal. tank with some neon tetras. The tetras have small fins so they got along fine, I even moved in some platys and they did fine too.
They all lived for many years and seemed quite content with their living spaces.
I would never suggest leaving them in the small container they came in, or something equally as small. They do need to move around.

A nod to The Roach- I kept mine in a vase with a plant, but the bugger got fed frozen blood worms and betta flakes. I cant believe people really think they are vegetarians! lol

Actually I know of a few people that put them in small containers and they still thrive (such as MM). Like he said you have to do water changes, no forgetting, no slacking. I will be jarring some of my fry in a few weeks due to running out of room. But I am using 1/2 gallon jars that will be cleaned on a strict schedule.
I do agree with you when they say.. "I have my betta in a 1/2 gallon tank and I only do water changes every 3 months and can someone tell me why it is sick?" Betta's are so misunderstood. One major reason I started breeding them and researching them.

I have and still do keep numbers of bettas in 1/2 gallon bowls. It's not a matter of cruelty, it's a matter of knowing and providing proper care for them under those conditions. Many of the worlds best betta breeders use this method for their breeding stock as well as show stock. Attend a betta show sometime and take a look around, it would be very interesting.

I hate seeing them sold at the store in 1cup size containers. I keep mine in larger size fish bowls, holds about 1/2 gallon water. I add tropical plants to their bowls. I know they kill each other, but can they be put in a fish tank with other types fish? If so, that beats the fish bowl, all alone.

what pisses me off is those people who go around selling bettas inside vases with like bamboo or some plant in it, and they say that the betta doesnt need to be fed, they eat the roots....are people that stupid?
