Check your power management settings - it might be set to shut down after a certain amount of unattended time.

1. right click on your desktop away from everything, choose properties, screen saver tab, power management settings and have a look at what is selected.

2. Also check in your bios for the power management setting there - go into the bios - when you boot your computer there is usually instructions on how to enter set up on the first screen you see. usually it is delete, or F1, F2 , etc.

If all the power management settings are set okay and the computer keeps shutting down you might have an overheating problem which will also shut down the computer to protect it.

Good luck

Your computer is probably "hibernating".

You can adjust this setting in Windows XP by going to control panel, power options.

Then you can choose how often (if at all) you want the computer to "hibernate" or go to "sleep". This is a power saving function that does not totally shut down windows, but just pauses all of the functions.

Check your settings in Power Options via Control Panel.

Hi. If you get your screen back when you move the mouse or press a key then this is normal if you have the power management set up this way.
