I have enjoyed fishkeeping as a hobby for over 30 years and still love it today. Heron can be a huge pest to a pond. Once a Heron finds a pond that he can get fish from he will be very hard to discourage. The CD's are a good start. Running string across the pond a few feet apart and about 1 foot from the water surface will also discourage most Heron. String hung about 5 feet up will also deter them.

Yes fishkeeping is a great hobby, And if herons stole your fish then of course they are a pest.

fish keeping is said to help you relax and you'll live longer, so i'd say it's a good hobby. i think herons are cute, and they're helpful in keeping the fish population down
