Firstly check with another CD/DVD if that works then the disc is bad. if it still refuses to work clean the lens and check the cable in the bak are connected correctly. If all the above fails replace the drive as the one you have is dead.. Best of luck dude.

Hi. Try to reload the drivers, use a CD cleaner to make sure the lens is clean, consider a newer DVD combo drive.

if it just sits there and makes a bunch of noise and you have tried alot of different cd's. id say the cd rom is bad . if i had more info i would be able to tell you more. eg.. recently installed cd rom ? old cd rom ? refurb pc ? you can try to get a regular cd dvd drive cleaner disk to clean the laser. if its recently installed check the jumper settings on the back of it.

Go into start, control panel, performance and maintainence, system, hardware, device manager, find your dvd rw and uninstall it. Then reboot your pc, and it will reinstall itself and work. I did this with my lite on dvd drive as it died, and its working fine now.

have you ever tried downloading the main up-tp-date motive force application for the cd/dvd disk force you put in. it would be so new that even your pc does not recognize it as this is not any longer in its memory documents as a make it recognises.

The drive is dead, to prove it try another drive before you buy on and i can guarantee that it will work meaning that you need to buy a new one.
