Uh....its never safe to have unprotected sex, unless you are married and you don't mess around on each other. Otherwise if single - I would definitely stick to using protection. The shot will not cure you from a STD or worse. Be smart.

When I went to get my first shot, they told me that the medication doesn't completely kick in until after receiving the 2nd shot. After that it's completely safe to have unprotected sex, if of course, you're having sex with one partner who is also having have sex with just one partner.
You also want to make sure that you're receiving your shots regularly, every 90 days. It is possible to get pregnant if you are late for getting a shot, because the medication slowly wears out over the 90 day period.

Never have unprotected sex unless you are with your spouse. If it is a boyfriend, always have him wear a raincoat. Wrap it up. So many STDs out there. Pull out and pray doesn't work either. I got twins. Just a little dab will do you. Think smart. Always have safe sex.

You need to wait at least a month. Usually, the pill, Nuva Ring, or any thing that uses hormones takes at least 14 days to start being effective, depending on the person. Just use protection for at least a month.

Firstly - can people stop assuming she is a single girl, for all we know she is happily married or happily in a long term relationship.
NOW - After 24 hours, the shot is effective birth control for the next 13 weeks.

never, the shot doesn't protect you from aids or std's of anykind, it just protects agianst pregnacy but thats not even 100 percent, you must always use condoms, i'm suprised that they didn't inform you of that when they gave you the shot. Please protect yourself no one else can. Alot of people are infected out there and they dont even tell people they have it, and then there's alot of people that don't protect themselves and put themselves at risk that are scared to get tested because they are scared they could have it, please be your own bestfriend and take care of yourself and your body, because no one else can. okay.

When I first got my IUD the doc told me to wait at least a month after starting any birth control, just to assure that its it full affect, so that means packaged meat unless its been at least that long...

unless you are in a marriage and understand that no birth control is a hundred % eeffective than be my guess; live it up. Please if the situation is different USE PROTECTION! do you really want to risk it. AS I'm sure you are aware birth control does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases
