is it regarded as offensive?

Of course not!

"Blonde" means girlfriend in Québécois slang!

And for boyfriend, we say "chum"!

Happy now, lol?

By the way, even if your girlfriend has brown, red or jet black hair, you still call her "ma blonde", is that clear?

P.S. The first answerer got it completely wrong by the way!

What Is Blonde In French

It can mean 3 things (that I can think of right now):
1 - blond - hair colour
2 - girlfriend
3- a type of beer
And it is not regarded as offensive...unless you're making a really bad blond/blonde joke.

Blonde = Girlfriend (whatever her hair colour, LoL!)
Chum = Boyfriend

More than acceptable in any situation. Not offensive in the least.

"Ma blonde" is "my girlfriend" no matter what colour her hair is. Not offensive. (or ta/sa/votre (but that's unlikely) blonde)

"Une/la blonde" is a/the girl/woman with blonde hair. I don't think it's as likely to imply stupidity as it is in English, so I'd say usually not offensive.

"blonde" is slang used to refer to a girlfriend. I don't believe it's considered to be offensive.
