I have a 97 softail with an s&s motor I was recently on a long ride about 50 miles into I noticed my oil pressure Gauge had stopped work but everything seemed fine so i finished the ride which ended up being around 300 miles. It just recently got out of the shop and i'm thinking its something they did to it. Should I get it looked at or is it something that can wait till my routen maintance is up?

its probably just your gauge or sending unit, try a different gauge, if you still dont have any pressure check the oil return line to the oil tank to see if your oil pump is working. they may have tightened the oil pump cover too much and caused the oil pump drive key to shear off. if they did stock hydraulic lifters would clatter. if you have solid lifters your all roller bearing motor could run 300 miles on just splash lubrication. but if so I'd make the shop redo the whole engine including the rocker arms.

It could possibly be either a bad gauge or sending unit (if electric gauge).
If a mechanical gauge, maybe the line leading to it is blocked.

No doubt it's electrical rather than mechanical, right?
Check for oil leaks at the sending unit. If it's dry, probably no rush to take it in.

When in doubt, check it out.
It's better safe, than sorry.
Don't take any chances.
Get it looked at.
