You are so right.

It's interesting the way the media and the democrats are avoiding this topic, compared to they way they went on and on about Bush's daughter's underage drinking and Dick Cheney's hunting accident. You would think it had never even happened!

Hey, I am a "doper" and while I do not condone what his son did, you have to remember that most fathers are not responsible for what their child does..Al Gore is on a decent mission whether he is seen as right or wrong and his personal life has nothing to do with it..I never liked Gore until about two years ago; then, I learned about the man...keep in mind that his son has had a rough life and maybe has more serious problems that have nothing to do with his upbringing...besides I would rather have a doper as the son of a President than the present son of a President....and lastly, never underestimate the powers of subversion by the Republicans when they fear someone....they have done worse than plant and ferment an issue to destroy someone.

Little Al is 24 years old. That makes him an adult. He is old enough to find his own detox center and go for help.

I'm sure the Gore family has been dealing with the son's drug abuse for a long time and have tried many things. Sometimes a parent has to let go....

If an adult child doesn't want to be helped, there is nothing a parent can do.

As for Mr. Gores involvement in Live Earth, ask yourself "what have I done for the betterment of my fellow man"......

Listen, addiction is a disease, not someone who screwed up or made a mistake because addiction is a physical bio chemical brain disease caused by high brain dopamine from drugs of abuse. Addiction changes the way the brain works. Have you ever taken a sip of alcohol? There is a genetic predisposition, large or small, this is why some people like alcohol or drugs and others do not. The amount an addict uses, little or much is not due to choice but to the individual's brain, it is not from lack of will power.

Rehab detox can help addicts with withdrawal, but the disease is still there as many ex addicts know. The terrible depression starts at 5-6 mos. into recovery and causes relapse...this is when brain dopamine depetes. The cravings will lessen over time but still can come periodically for years, the reason for these cue cravings is an increase in brain growth hormone levels...which is increased due to destruction of brain neurons from street drugs/alcohol, this increase raises dopamine by 25% with cue cravings. The overall dopamine replenishes at around 1 1/2 to 2 years into recovery. Healing of brain structures depend on extent of disease and drug.

Scientists have studied the cause of addiction for decades, and now they have a treatment, GVG, it stops addiction/withdrawal of meth, cocaine, alcohol, heroin, ectasy, inhalents, mj, tobacco, by tempering dopamine system. It's available around the world. Discovered at www.bnl.gov. Also see Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners (dosing).

Little Al is a grown man capable of making his own decisions. If more parents didn't run to the aid of their kids every time they screw up - maybe they would grow up more quickly. I see no link between Mr. Gore and the Live Earth concerts and the mistakes his son has made. .

No. Little Al is an adult. The former vice president has more important things to accomplish than continuing to "parent" his son. All of our offspring eventually have to stand on their own two feet and face the consequences of their actions without "daddy" having to step in and save them.

It is impossible to get drug rehab help for anyone. If the person them self does not want help, or does not want to change, then rehab is useless. The person will go along with it to get released, the run right back to their lifestyle after they get out. The first step is admittance to having a problem. Before that all help is useless.
