You're right, the U.S. does allow corporations to use personal information for their own profits...

Copyright is not something you DO. It either exists from the moment a work is created, or it never exists. That said, the information you refer to is neither subject to copyright, nor 'personal records'.

You didn't create that personal information, so you can't copyright it.

And, you can only copyright the creative aspects of the info. Are there any creative aspects? I'd say no.
