im 16 & beginning my college search. i used to always want to go to princeton, but now that im really looking into it, princeton doesnt seem to offer the majors im passionate about. im top of a class of about 150, will have taken approximately 12 ap classes by the time i graduate, have 400+ hours of community service, & do a lot of extracurricular activities. right now, i really want to write & direct films for my job. i used to think about being a lawyer or a doctor, but if i choose either of those careers, i may be successful, but never fulfilled or satisfied. i want to go to a great college because i know i have a good chance of getting in, but i want to go to college for filmmaking and screenplay writing. maybe even double in psychology- not because i want to be a psychologist but because the human mind interests me &can help me create influential movies. lol sorry for rambling, but basically what are top colleges that have great film programs(yale, stanford, columbia, etc??)

Go to a good local college and get your basics and also take some extra courses in the areas that interest you. Volunteer in those areas. At 16 you have a world full of options, you need to explore and find you passion. When you discover you passion you will be able to involve all the things you want to do ie, writing filmmaking, etc., If you are open to anything, you will get there, often by some really unusual ways.

I can't really help you with that since I'm not sure what the best of the best for that field are. I do know that Columbia is really good for that major. Full Sail is also really great for that, but it's not a "top college".

Good luck with your future! I had the same major in college. I considered minoring in Psychology because the subject interests me. I ended up minoring in Creative Writing because it helped with my major and screen writing. I still have Psychology as a hobby though! Best of luck!

Look into the University of Southern California. They have an excellent program for film production. Some famous directors and producers that have graduated from there include, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

Are you more of an NYC or LA type? I'd consider that first, and then think about whether Columbia, UCLA or USC was right for me. (I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of NYU.) I think UCLA & USC have the best known film schools in the country.

Pretty much the major schools in the cities in which filmmaking is centered - Columbia, NYU, UCLA, USC.

Think about the Los Angeles and New York areas, so NYU and USC would be two superior options.
