I use a pencil to do them (the easy ones)......put them on the table for my son to correct and finish them while eating.

Always, however they are usually just the ones in my local daily paper. They are not as difficult as the NY Times. I also do the Cryptoquote in pen. USA today and several newspapers offer online crosswords that don't require any ink or pencils. You can solve them on regular level, where your letter will show up in red if incorrect, or master level, where you get no color coded clues. And when you complete the puzzle, you get a little fanfare sound effect.

No way! My mom was a champion crossword puzzle worker and she sometimes did them in pen, but not me. I just don't have the patience to do them most of the time anyway.

I do it all the time. I love to work crossword puzzles. I never use a pencil.

I always use a pen cause it's easier to read - pencils smugde to bad when you have to erase, particularly on newsprint. When I find a goof, I just write the new answer over the old one real heavy. Don't have a clue about the personality thing.

Ha ha!! I'm so lacking in confidence in this area,I wouldn't even be confident with a brand new number 2 pencil with a big fat full head of an eraser!!!
But it sure would be entertaining for those who would like to watch me use up that eraser faster then the speed of light!!lol

Confident enough, or stupid enough? I always use pen, and quit when my puzzle is so marked up it is illegible.
