1. when you multiply you add your exponents:
way to write it in order to solve equation is:

6*7*x^2+3 = 48x^5

2. isolate unknown on one side of normally but this is a quadratic equation as well so you have to factor.

2^ + 7x + 6 = 0
now for you test numbers:
2*3 = 6 but 2 +3 will not equal seven so it is out
6*1 = 6 and 6+1 = 7 which is what you need.
after factoring the answer is:
(x+1)*(x+6) = 0
check your answer: by multiplying them back together:
x+1
x+6
-----
x^2+1x
.........6x +6
----------------
x^2 + 7x + 6 = 0

3. x^2 + 4x + 1 = 0 is in it's simplest form because only whole numbers multiplied together with a product of 1 is 1*1 and 1+1 will only equal 2 not 4:

4. find common denominator first for the addition and subtraction part of the problem then subtract.

Lowest common denominator or 1/3 and 2/5 is 15: converting 1/3 first:
you multiply 1/3 by 5/5 first and that equals 5/15
now you multiply 2/5 by 3/3 and that equals to 3/15

next step is to subtract 3/15 from 5/15

5/15 - 3/15 = 2/15
now you divide by 1/2 and when dividing fractions you invert and multiply. That means that the denominator becomes to numerator

(2/15) / (1/2) =
(2/15) * (2/1) = 4/15 can not be reduced any further

2) . . . x^2 + 7 x + 6 = 0
(x + 1 )(x + 6 ) = 0
x = -1 , x = - 6

3) . . . x^2 + 4x +1 = 0
x = [ -4 -+ sqr(16 - 4) ] /2
x1 = - 2 + sqr(3)
x2 = - 2 - sqr(3)

4) 1/3 - (2/5) / (1/2)
1/3 - (2/5) (2)
1/3 - 4/5
( 5 - 12 ) / 15
= - 7 / 15
