I'm just wondering if anyone knows the steps that I or someone in a position of authority at my school can take in order to become accredited. Maybe a website or a book of reference would be helpful.

When you say you are IN a seminary, do you mean you are a student there, or an administrator? Accreditation is a major process, which usually takes from 5-10 years and a major investment on the part of the institution. It is not like filling out a simple form, paying a fee, and getting a licence. The Association of Theological Schools seems to be the accrediting agency for seminaries. Their website, which gives extensive information on the process, is www.ats.edu.

Neniaf is right... this isn't something that *you* can do, regardless of whether you're a student or the president of the institution. It is a multi-year process that's excruciating, expensive, and frankly... invaluable. The institution benefits in more ways than I could possibly relate, so it's also absolutely worthwhile.

I'd only like to add that you can get all sorts of info on accreditation at the Council for Higher Education Accreditation's website (below), including a list of accrediting bodies for Christian institutions. You might consider looking into them as there are several, all with different values and requirements.

Good luck!
