do you have any tips on making friends? I'm pretty shy and therefore lonely. I would like to talk to people but I'm to shy to start the conversation. What, if anything, can I do to bring people to me without making a fool of myself?

Try joining a Yahoo group and chatting to various members. I've made a couple of friends that way. If you haven't already got it, you'll need to download Yahoo Messenger. If you do agree to meet up with someone, it's common sense to meet up on neutral ground first - just in case. Make sure you've been chatting for some considerable time first as well. The advantage of this is that you'll both have a common interest. This is only one suggestion there are many ways of meeting people. Best of luck. (PS I'm from the UK hence the UK link.)

Well talking with people on line might be a great idea. You are just typing here. :P You could message people through here telling them how much you liked their question or their answer. People like to hear compliments. You will learn not to be shy, you just have to go for it. :D
