You could have pulled a muscle or possibly have a pinched nerve. Best best would be to see a doctor.
Doesnt sound serious, but it never hurts (pardon the pun) to find out.

Sounds like a little tendenitis/bursitis. Try icing 3 times a day for 5 days. This should reduce the inflammation, and rest your shoulder. It should be just fine. Try not to get a cortisone shot, as this will make your shoulder feel better but really bad on the tissues. Talk to your folks about taking some advil, follow label instructions for your age.

For beginners to yoga, overextension is a common problem, particulary in the shoulders and neck areas. First step, see your doctor and follow his or her treatment plan. Next, talk to your yoga teacher before the next class on the problem that you had. Second, develop a friendship with others in class and learn how they prepare for class.

It will not go away. Definitely see a doctor if it is broken or bleeding. To find out for sure what the problem is and how too fix it read http://www.helium.com/tm/148271
