1. Write 8 2/9 as an improper fraction

74/9

2. Solve the Inequality –2x < 14 for x

-2x < 14 or x > - 7

3.What is the slope m and y-intercept point of the line 2x – y = –10

y = 2x + 10 and so slope is 2

4.Find the slope of a line that passes through (-3, 6) and (-2, -7)

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (-7 - 6) / (-2 + 3) = -13

Improper Fraction
A fraction which has a larger numerator than denominator

tip:
to convert 8 2/9 to an improper fraction:
add the whole number to the fraction
8 2/9 = 8 + 2/9 = 8/1 + 2/9 = 72/9 + 2/9 = 74/9

-----------------------------
to find slope of a line, re-arrange the line to the form:
y = mx +b
then, slope = m

from 2x -y = -10
y = 2x + 10
slope= 2

A fraction which has a larger numerator than denominator

1. 8 2/9=74/9
2. -2x<14
2x>-14
x>-7 => x E (-7,+oo)
3. y=2x+10 => m=2
for x=o y=10
4. m=(6+7)/(-3+2)=-13
