I think you might be a little confused -- a psychiatrist is a medical profession ... a psychologist is not. Either way you need to earn a Ph.D/Doctorate. The main difference is becoming a psychiatrist takes a couple years longer because (as you stated) you must complete medical training. A psychologist cannot prescribe medication, and therefore, you do not need medical training to become one.

If you don't want to earn a Ph.D/Doctorate you can still major in psychology at either the Bachelors of Masters level, but you're not going to be able to practice the same way as if you had a Doctorate. If you don't want to do any medical training then you want to stay away from any kind of physiological psychology. Conversely, you're somewhat limited in what you can do in psychology without a Ph.D, but there still are some options.

*you also might want to work on your spelling ... people will take you more seriously*

I think you need to do a bit of research. You need to look at:

psychology - the science of mind and behaviour

psychiatry - the branch of medicine concerned with mental illness and dysfunction

they are two really different fields - do you want to be a doctor with a medical career, or a scientist studying human behaviour and the working of the mind

there's a lot of other similar things out there too, like:

cognitive science
ergonomics/human factors
neurobiology
artificial intelligence
etc. etc.

depending on what you are interested in

I am in the same boat as you I wanted to be a psychologist and work with kids. But since finding out how much other stuff I had to do I am not narrowing down my specifics to behavioral specialist since this peaks my interest. So I would say find a special feild.

Someone misinformed you. It is a psychiatriast who needs go go through medical training (they also can prescribe medications), but a psychologist is NOT a medical doctor and does not need to got through that training. You DO need to work a bit on your spelling, though!
