its like before you end your life or whatever just say goodbye or i love you to the most important ppl in your life.

To me it means that at a point in everyone's life, the persons or things that they have inadvertently placed on pedestals begin to lose that fascinating attraction that most times were only in the minds of the fan. The fan then begins to lose interest or worst develop contempt for the idol and is quick to find fault with and denounce their onetime demi-god. I think the lyrics mean that before you totally banish your idols-the things that once made you happy and that you have now outgrown- in effect "killing" them appreciate them for all the good feelings that they once allowed you for in fact very few asked to be place on that pedestal. That's just my interpretation.

the thing with songs is, no matter who listens, it can apply to a plethora of different aspect of a persons life. To me it sounds like this person has an addiction, and before they tell themselves they are going to get rid of it....they kiss it goodnight, because they love it so much...and maybe the whole cycle starts all over because they never really parted with it to begin with?
lyrics apply to all...with different meanings.

idk. in my opinion it would mean... "before you say goodbye, tell them how you feel" or "before they leave, say goodbye". either way it sounds cool.
