Whenever he tells me he's going to help, I always end up doing it myself.

Watch it there Miss T. Don't judge us all by the one you have. I'm an excellent cook with several of my own recepies in print. I'd much rather be in the kitchen than pushing a lawn mower.

To resolve this problem, many couples either eat out or take out because the women get fed up. For the most part, these men have been spoiled by a mother who waited on them and they never learned to do for themselves. They think that their support in the kitchen is optional and not really expected.

In the off chance that they had to fend for themselves for a brief period before they met their surrogate mother (you), they might have learned to fix some things.

Mine learned how to make a mean batch of cornbread and an even meaner fluffly omelette. Of course it took me several years to uncover these secrets but once I did, I sent him to cooking school and praised the heck out of him every time he made something for me. We entertain and I let everyone know of his gourmet skills (which encourages him to do more).

Now, I am the sous chef and dishwasher but I wind up with great meals.

Ironic when you consider that most of the worlds greatest chefs are men...

You really wanna know why this happens? Because you let him get away with it, his mother let him get away with it as did his aunts and his grandmothers. Don't stress it you're in good company - around 99 per cent of us married women around the world are in this group. All we can really do is complain about the lucky 1 per cent of married women who have it good. But then again they probably have some other complaint about their spouses. At least I hope they do. I bet their spouses are chronic farters and to make up for all that flatulence they can actually cook a meal from beginning to end. Well that's my theory. Good luck with teaching your old dog new tricks.

Men can cook, they are just too lazy to do so! My husband NEVER cooked when we were together, and most men I know will not cook, I think the lazziness to not be able to prepare a meal is encoded in their DNA or something! LOL.

Hehe, I cook or prepare meals for myself when not feeling lazy. Just say that you will make it and then don't do it. Eventually, he will either start a fight over it or cook it himself. But first consider how good of a cook he is ;)

My husband likes to cook.
He enjoys cooking out on the grill the most.
He can cook in the kitchen. When he cooks his own spaghetti sauce and I'd have to say its the tops.

At least, he offers to help. That is good.

I know many men who not only can cook, but they cook better than their wives . And find cooking a very creative procedure, enjoying it.

So sorry to hear about that. When my hubby tells me he will help, I throw him the apron and lay on the couch. He's a good cook.
