Some say I need to update the video driver? is it something that can be down loaded, or , do I have to buy it? If so, how expensive is it?

GO to the website of your video card manufacturer, or the video chip company. (NVidia, ATI etc.)

From there you will be able to download the latest drivers for your video card.

If you have an LCD monitor then I would recommend that you set the system resolution to the native resolution of the monitor.

Any other resolution and the monitor will have to scale the image to fit, this can make the image look blurry.

Install the newest drivers for the video card & monitor.

Unless you have a REALLY old video card, it should be able to handle the higher resolution. And drivers for the monitor is important too.

to update your driver you go the website of whatever company makes your video card and they should have a driver download section, if that doesn't work then you will have to buy a new video card that supports that resolution
