It prints dark and a lot of extra brown and greenish colors. Whites look grey. I have tried the manual and done the color checks and we took it apart and cleaned it. No change. The ink cartridges do not appear to be leaking. What can it be?

I have had the printer for several years and have had low ink before with no problem. Again, I have performed all the maintenance in the manual.

Modern printers do an "automatic" color adjustment. You cleaned it, but did you clean the LED on the print heads?? If you can see them go back & forth as it prints, you should see a blue lite - this is shining on the printed area to adjust colors.

There should be a self-adjust that can be run without connectioin to a PC.

Clean this & the sensor next to it.
Be sure to clean the 'clear' strip behind the moving heads [L-R position sensor] * the 'wheel' on the side.

Is it possible that you one or two of your cartridges are low on ink? if that's not the case then do a cleaning and a nozzle check under maintenance for your Printer..
