Sam likes 40% of her male friends, and 30% of her female friends. She has a total of 300 friends, 25% of them are male. How many male friends does she like?

30 is the right answer and here is the working:

Sam's total friends are 300, out of which 25% are male. That means 300 x 25/100 = 75 are male friends.

She likes 40% of her male friends (for a moment disregard how she can have a friend whome she doesn't like!). That means

75 x 40 / 100 = 30

So, she likes 30 male friends.

Easy its 30. 25% of 300 is 75 and 40% of that is 30.

Number of male friends = 300*25% = 75
