her pc was running fine then she left the room and when she came back in she noticed a funny burning smell, she came to the pc and it was off and an Orange light was where the green "on" light usually is and she cannot get it started again.
anyone know what our problem is please let us know

Initially 2 errors suspected, either the power supply has got fried or the battery has overheated & exploded (if the battery was on charge mode). Better don't try switch on again, as it may create further complications. Inspect the battery & power supply first.

Could be the cpu, but most likely the power supply. Sometimes they simply fail. Other times they go "poof" and give off a funny burning odor. Even had one explode once and the computer is still fine, after having the power supply replaced of course. Replace the power supply and see what happens. If the computer still doesn't come on, it is most likely the cpu or motherboard, in which case, we are probably talking new computer.

were is the orang light coming from the monitor or screen? if its from the screen it just means that the screen is not turned off even though the monitor is. the burning smell is a little freaky. it probaly got over heated/used and it turned it self off. i would take it in to get check out. the whole cpu may have been totally fried though

yea it sounds like her motherboard is fried. u will have to get a new one.
