4x - 2y = - 12

Transpose 4x

4x - 2y - 4x = - 4x - 12

- 2y = - 4x - 12

Divide both sides of the equation by - 2

- 2y / - 2 = - 4x / - 2 - 12 / - 2

y = 2x+ 6

isolate y.
4x + 12 = 2y (bring it to the other side)
2x + 6 = y (divide everything by 2)

now you have y all by itself, on one side of the eqn, with no co-efficients.

the answer is A, y = 2x + 6.
