What can you do in London with a 17 hr layover?

Take a train form the airport to town and sightsee. The trains run regularly every day and take about half an hour to reach downtown London. You can buy a ticket online or in the airport train station. Cost is about 20 lbs each way but cheaper if you by a 2-way ticket.

It depends which airport? If you have the layover at Heathrow I would suggest going to Windsor to have a look around the Castle and grounds. It is very close to Heathrow and is a lot less hassle than trying to get in an out of London fo such a short amount of time!
