a intel core 2 duo is a great upgrade. it has 2 processors (cores) on a single socket. any new card will waste the one u currently have. look for a nvida 8600 if u dont want to spend much, or get a nvida 8800 if u dont care. u will need to get a new motherboard to upgrade to a core 2 duo and a nvida 8600, or 8800

replace: much less severe priced 1gb enjoying cards are a waste of money. For resolutions of 1920x1080 or much less, 512mb enjoying cards carry out each and each bit as nicely. the extra memory of 1gb enjoying cards basically comes into play at quite severe resolutions on 27" and better video exhibit instruments, and sub-$a hundred enjoying cards are not useful sufficient to interest at those resolutions besides. manufacturers oftentimes placed one extra 512mb of inexpensive DDR2 memory on video enjoying cards basically to strengthen the value and entice unwary shoppers. grab a GeForce 9500GT ($ninety 5 CAD) and make contact with it an afternoon! Or for $seventy 9 CAD, grab a 9400GT and a valuable lunch :) in my view i does no longer pass decrease than the 9500GT. producer's suggestion for the 9500GT is a 350 watt skill furnish; the cardboard itself basically attracts 28 watts.
