The past couple of weeks i started taking probiotics, but have been developing skin problems, cysts and blemishes. Know that antibiotics are often prescribed for acne issues and wondering if the probiotics could be the cause?

You are going through the skin detoxification.

There are many reasons for a dog to lick or chew at a certain area - not all are physical. Have the vet do a skin scraping to rule out serious medical issues like parasites and mites (mange, ringworm, etc). I'm surprised they didn't do this the first time you brought her in, to be honest. Most of the time when there are patches of irritated skin they will rule out those serious issues FIRST (long before prescribing medicine.) If that gets ruled out, then talk to them about trying something for allergies. The vet may suggest testing before trying different medicines. If you decide not to do testing, then the vet will tell you what you can give the dog to see if it helps. NEVER medicate a dog without your vet's advice. Period. Even if another dog owner says "i do it all the time", that does not mean YOU should. At that point, look at her food and environment. A lot of allergies are to food - specifically corn and other grains. Go for a corn and grain free food with a neutral meat, such as fish or lamb, and see what happens. It's also possible that she could be having a reaction to a cleaning product used in the home, fertilizer used in the yard, or even just pollen or other natural outdoor thing. It's also possible that she is licking or chewing because she is anxious or bored. My maltese used to chew her feet for that reason. Try giving her something else to do - puzzle toys, training, exercise, etc etc. Invest in an e-collar. Not the static kind, the cone kind. There are many available for daily use, not just the obnoxious plastic kind. That will keep her from getting at those spots and will give them time to heal. It will also prevent her from licking off any medication your vet suggests.

Most people carry around toxins in the fat tissues below the layer of the skin as well as in the fatty tissues of the liver. They are stored, and not expelled because the body is lacking some "ingredient" to finish the job.

Some people can experience a "detoxing" effect when they improve their nutrition, which is an indirect result of improving the bacteria in your gut. They help you digest food and extract nutrients. The visual symptoms of this can be evident on the skin but they tend to pass over time.

That's the body detoxing. It not only comes out in urine, sweat and bowel movements, but through the skin itself as blemishes.

I drink peppermint tea every day to help speed it along, and I use tea tree oil soap to wash.
