I am looking at getting a betta fish and have heard that peace lilys are great-but where can you buy them? Walmart or a plant store?!?!?!

Peace lillies are not aquatic plants and despite what you have seen or heard, the vase with a plant sticking out is not a good place to keep a betta. If I could rename that set-up I would call it the New and Improved World's Best Betta Death Trap. Here's an article about them

If you want to keep a betta, get an inexpensive 2.5 gallon tank set up. You can get these from any large aquarium store or places like Petco, Petsmart or Walmart. They are very affordable and will provide an excellent habitat for your betta.

Here's a website that will give you some great info on starting a tank for a betta.

Hope that helps and enjoy your fish!

The peace lily does nothing for the fish except take up much needed space. I would remove the fish from the vase and place it in a 2.5 gallon tank that is filtered and heated. Betta's are tropical fish and need to be housed that way. You wouldn't put a fish that came from the ocean into a freshwater stream would you?? I feed my Betta's twice a day. I also use Betta flakes and pellets. I feed them brine shrimp and blood worms as a treat about 3 times a week. Keep a close eye on your Betta and be sure he doesn't get constipated. I like Evelyn, fast mine once a week to ensure he doesn't have problems with constipation and swim bladder disorder.

Please don't put a peace lilly on top of your betta. It does look pretty but it's not good for the fish at all. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses telling you why. Much better than I could tell you.
