I don't want to get rid of the royal family. I just want to reduce the number of the ones who are on the payroll. The royal family of the UK should be more like the royal family of the Netherlands or Denmark.

it would be foolhardy to get rid of the Royal family individuals - Britain exchange right into a republic quickly and it collapsed after purely 5 years, ushering the Monarchy back in. in reality, we see republics as a corrupt and improper type of government that has no genuine continuity or greatness approximately it - I ought to think of i'm risk-free in asserting there is a lot greater understand for the Queen particularly than a US President to illustrate. Britain has labored as a constitutional Monarchy for a protracted time now and there have been no revolutions, no considerable assassination tries on the Royal family individuals and no extensive scandals regarding them in heinous crimes against the human beings so if it ain't broke, why fix it? the yankee government immediately is a duplicate of the '2 residences' device used interior the united kingdom! Even the US, the 'Land of the unfastened and protector of freedom' has had a revolution - that's no longer a grievance purely an commentary. Republic's have been and long gone and proceed to return and pass. The Monarchy is a ethical compass in a international the place corrupt and ignorant politicians proceed to abuse their authority. On ideas-blowing of this, the Royal family individuals costs each British taxpayer purely 10p a 300 and sixty 5 days - approximately 14-sixteen cents. permit's settle for it, you will detect that form of exchange mendacity on the pavement! advertising the valuables and land of the Royal family individuals might carry no longer something in terms of long term financial income, so there is not any argument there. this is not any longer for the human beings of england to choose on my own besides; the Queen is Head of State for sixteen international locations (alongside with Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and de facto ruler of a super many greater. i might lots particularly have HM the Queen as Head of State than David Cameron, permit's placed it that way.

As an american its easy to dismiss the royal faimly as just snobs but they do have a place in your government. As ive stated on other questions, the royal faimly has what is called reserved powers that can be used to bring the UK out of caos if politices gets in the way of the government from doing there duty of serving their people. She has the power Disolve your parliment as well as prime minister if she feels they are not doing their jobs. I the even of a bad election scandle for prime minister she could appoint anybody of her choosing that she feels will do the job as well as refuse anybody she feels will hurt her countrys intrest without ever having a "Gore vs Bush" 2000 election type problem. She also has the power to kill any bill she feels is a threat to the way of life to her country. These powers are hardly ever used but they are there as safe guards to ensure that the government works or else. Look at use at the USA. Do you really only want a 3 branch system because they hardly work in a two party system. Somtimes i wish we has a 4th branch that would tell them get to work or get out. Becuase alot of damage can be done between elections.

Something to add to the question. The whole Royal Family Situation; do the British really still believe that this family is above them? I (an American) don't quite see why after years of parliamentary government, the royal family is still so respected. Do they (the royal family) still get the same feeling of patriotism and dignity as that of past royals that actually had power? And do they take the spotlight for granted? I can see why Prince Harry would want to serve his country; its only natural. Although, if he'd really listened and thought about what his advisors had told him to do (stay in the military, do NOT go to Iraq), he wouldn't have disrupted the army's plans, disrupted his company's deployment.... Why exactly would he have tried to go to Iraq? It just raised alot of questions. He KNEW he would be a HUGE target to the enemy. Why endanger him, his company, cost thousands in gov money to be lost in an attack..Publicity or ignorance?

Just a quick question. Are you a British and a taxpayer? If yes, you have the right to view your opinion like this. But if not - it's none of your business.
