Theres no way to answer this, but tell them to hang in there cause you need your family. But be prayerful, and loving to each parent. If one parent has left the family its an indicator that things are not working.

When one stops loving the other. When they fight too much. Etc. My parents are divorced. My dad just left one day. No reason really...

When they both agree it's unfixable or one finds that they love someone else and want to be with that person more than they want to be with the one they married.
