It varies from woman to woman, below are some signs but remember not everyone gets all or any of them:
Cramps in the lower abdomen, usually in the side.
Lower back ache
Tiredness
Uncomfortable sex due to cervical sensitivity and/or vaginal aches and tenderness
Increased/Decreased Sex Drive
Headache/Migraines
Cravings/Or Lack of Appetite
Swelling or Bloating
Hope this helps some.

A feeling of bloating, definately water retension. Your clothes fit tighter, maybe a little cramping. As a womwn its really no problem to chart first day starting and ending a period. Most of us grown up women do, as how could you plan your calendar if you didn 't?

You can't know for sure it will be on a specific day but usually when we start having lower tummy cramps it's a few hours away.
