Does anyone know it these boat motors have a Neutral or Reverse?
I Can only seem to find Forward
Also the Boat will start if the prop is fully enguaged and throttle set to high.
but will not start at idle. just sort of spits and sputters and dies.
I Changed the spark plugs with no signifigant difference.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Well, you may be before my time on this. Many outboards did have a lever on the side for Forward-Neutral-Reverse. But, back then I not sure, BUT, (Yea always a Butt), If the engine rotates 360 degrees then that a sure sign it only have a forward gear, this how it go in reverse, rotate it 180 degrees. If, it not rotate look for a Handle to shift, OR, a missing handle.

yeah, it has neutral and reverse. the running part is far too complicated to go through here. find a manual of some kind and spend some time with it. check compression, fire, carbs., gear oil, etc. also, the timing on those old puppies is almost a magical endeavor. good luck.
