I have done some research online and found out a lot of the plants at petco and stuff aren't true aqutic plants what would be the best and easiest aqutic plants for a begginer to slowly change his tank from fake plants to real

Because you say you have only moderate light and due to the fact that a 29 gallon is a rather deep design, I would suggest you stick with fairly low light plants. Java Moss, Java Fern and most any anubias species will be great choices for your tank. You can also include some cabomba or elodea in the tank with no problem.

Not to forget some floating places. Riccia, water sprite or any of the various frog bits would be good additions as well.

a good plant to start with i think is aurea... it can be bought in any garden center as it grows on land as a ground-cover plant but when in an aquarium it grows upwards and has very nice foliage! i would also recommend java fern!
