Because dear lady they have been fed these folklores and myths since time immemorial.
Its not the size that matters its how you go about it that really matters.
A woman is not a punching bag to be pounded !!!!
I wish more members of my gender realize that a woman can be made to orgasm and go crazy without having to grow a german sausage!!!!!
A proper education and penis envy would be over!!!!!

Where do men get their insecurities about size? Um...women? Just a guess. Comments made in chat rooms, jokes made on television, things that women say to each other when they are drunk and/or think no one else can hear them.
The fact is I have (ahem) no experience. All I know is what I've heard or read. The problem is the "Size Doesn't Matter" camp seems to be all men, whether it was my sex ed teacher, a medical professional writing an article, or a guest on a public radio talk show.
Oddly enough, there are not a lot of women talking about their personal experience saying, "I like small penises," or "I've been with men of all sizes, and I find that size makes no difference whatsoever."
I've also noticed that women prefer tall men, the taller the better. Presumably this is because women think that everything about tall men will be, well, tall. Dancing with someone who is a great deal taller than you are would be at best awkward, and it's a lot easier to kiss someone whose lips are on the same level as opposed to that person having to bend way down. What other reason can there be?
As to how men know if we are big/medium/small, I guess I don't really know how I compare with other guys. Though I don't watch porno movies I have heard people talk about them and I know I don't compare well with the "actors" in those movies. I guess I have always bought into the theory that the bigger the guy is, the bigger all his appendages will be because it certainly does hold true for hands, feet, and noses. Since I'm 5' 4" and the average height of men is 5' 8", it stands to reason that I'm below average height in that way too.
Why does it "make or break" some men? I don't know that it "makes or breaks" me, but I want to be able to please the woman I marry, and if my technique is bad, I can learn to do better, but size is the one thing I can't change, not without drastic, expensive, extremely painful surgery that is.

I think it must be from other men bragging about their size, I would hate for a guy to be huge, it would just be painful.
Girth is kinda good to have but hey they still have fingers to use as well, my ex's have been from 2 inch's to 6 inch's (Which is big by the way) and everyone has pleased me in the bedroom.
Men need to chill out because we really don't care. Women get obsessed that they are fat when in reality men just don't care.

The insecurities arise from the fact that sufficient (this only means sufficient. It does not mean lots, it does not mean many, it means sufficient) women comment on size to make some men self-conscious. Keep in mind, most men are actually not insecure irrelevant of their size.
"make or break some men"
I think you are over-exaggerating men's 'insecurities'.

I believe it's all in their heads, like sometimes we think out butt looks big, they think their...well...they think it's not big enough. And it's funny how some obsess about it and some seem oblivious to the fact that they ARE laughing. My ex hub was the dog...heck father of most dogs, he cheated like he invented it and he had NOTHING to write home about but my fiance' is MORE than fine but always jokes about Cialis or Enzyte. HA HA. No matter how much you say 'Baby, it's fine' there is no way to make them feel better.

From statements like "Is it in yet?" Or just plain laughter at the sight of it!
