You push the applicator all the way in until you feel your fingers begin to touch your vagina. Then you push the bottom of the applicator in to release the tampon and pull the applicator out. The only thing that should hang out is the sting to remove it. The tampon is left in between 4-8 hrs. Try Playtex Gentle Glide for the first time.

The only thing that should be sticking out is the string. Be sure to insert the applicator in up to the part you are supposed to put your fingers on to hold it. Then push the plunger without pulling the applicator out. As you push up, it will eventually start to come out a little. When the plunger is in all the way pull the rest of the applicator out. The tampon should be in there far enough that all you see is the string. If you happen to get it too far in, you will feel a bizzare pain and just tug on the string a little to bring it down off your cervix. If it is not far enough in, it will feel as if it is going to fall out. Also uncomfortable. When you can barely feel it, then you know it's in right.

http://www.beinggirl.com has alot of good answers for those questions.
but, from personal experience, it goes all the way in, if it doesn't you're more prone to getting a UTI [urinary tract infection] from having a tampon around your urthera.
experiment with the tampon and see what's most comfortable size wise.
the reason a tampon should go all the way in, is because if you're swimming and a little bit is sticking out, it'll absorb more water than blood.

the tampon needs to go all the way in. if you let a tiny bit stick out, it hurts!! just let the string stick out. when you put the entire tampon in, you can't even notice it's in. if you leave a little sticking out, you'll feel the pain.

um yes a tampon does go all the way in because if a little is sticking out then you will be able to see it but if youre thinking of the string...then yes that is supposed to be out but i think you should ask youre mom because putting it in the wrong way can really hurt you!!! good luck and hope you have fun swimming

The string should be the only part of the tampon hanging out. Put it in until it feels right. If you walk around and can feel it, it needs to be pushed in farther. Best of luck*

All the way. If it hurts, it is not in all the way. Take it out and try again.
