Sounds perfectly normal to me. Everyone gets white discharge, usually a little while before your period, and there is usually a slight smell. You're probably just fine.

If there is no discomfort, there is usually nothing to be worried about. You do not show symptoms of a UTI (urinary tract infection) because a UTI affects the bladder and the urinary tract, not the vagina. You may have bacterial vaginosis. There are a lot of docs who won't always check for that because BV can mimic a yeast infection and even trichomoniasis! There's just no telling sometimes. Are you having any kind of itching down there? If it itches at all, it sounds like BV and you will need a simple treatment for it. More than likely, the doc will give you a intravaginal gel called MetroGel. It is a clear gel and it is put inside the vagina and stops the growth of unhealthy bacteria. Do not start douching. I can tell when a girl has been douching...she can be wearing 10 pairs of pants and be standing 50 feet from me and I can tell she douches because I can smell it from a mile away. Douching kills all the good flora in the vagina, thus, making you smell strongly of fish. Don't do it. BV doesn't mean you are not clean down there...you can get BV from sitting around in a wet bathing suit too long! Just go to another doc...an OBGYN and have some more tests done. Good luck sweetie!

I would find a new doctor because that isn't right. Sounds like a bacterial/yeast infection of some sort. Of course, a lot of time the type of discharge you get depends on what you eat, etc., so you may want to inquire about that.

Ps. Please don't douche, that is the worst thing you could do in this situation.

That's not normal. A clean and healthy vagina should not have white discharge or a bad smell. It could be a bacteria infection or something else. Go to another doctor.

While you were at the doctor's why didn't you ask your doctor? How is anyone here going to know what's up? I sure don't have a lab at home, oh yeah, and you didn't give me a cultures besides.
Ask for a referral to a gynocologist.
