on the box it says 16:9 moniter that works best at 1440x900 resolution. i tried it, everything looks great. but 1440x900 is a 16:10 resolution! and when i try a 16:9 resolution, it looks distorted...

it has to do with the space of the pixels in the monitors LCD panel... they're not perfectly square... so running a 16:10 resolutions makes it work

They lied.

19" wide panels are 1440 by 900 - 16:10, as far as I am aware, any 19" monitor is going to be the same.

Try to think of it as gaining and extra 90 pixels height rather than losing 160 pixels width.


I would guess that the people who wrote the spiel on the carton were not up on the real technical specs. Also people know that 16:9 means widescreen. 16:10 might confuse some people despite being more accurate.

that is a cheaper wide screen monitor. it tries to emulate a true wide screen.
