This is about a guppie from one of my batches of guppies, So there are about 8 of them, The others are bigger and have now been released to the main tank, But i have one guppie left in the breeder net and hes so small, Like about the same size he was as he was born, His tail is also like a gray/black colour,(its not colour as in guppie colour) he was born with it,. What should i do. Just leave him in the net?. Killing him is not an option. Thanks

This happens all the time. When my cichlids breed, Some grow quickly and some barely grow at all. Are you familar with the term "culling"? Fish breeders cull the weak ones because they won't be worth anything. If you just can't bring yourself to do it, then leave it where it is, just don't expect it to turn into anything worth the effort that you have to put into it.

First of all, it's Guppy, not guppie.

The small guppy you have let is a runt and is a genetic flaw. Any breeder would cull that fish and destroy it so it doesn't manage to pass along bad genes and damage the entire line of fish. If you don't want to do that, you need to place it in a tank where it will never come in contact with other guppies and risk messing up your future fish with the bad genes.

the fish is probably just the runt of the fry because all species fish mammals and birds have a runt it is supposed to contract all of the diseases and problems such a two heads or any kind of disease so all of the other fish can be healthy it seems like you have nothing to worry about the black spot probably wont hurt it ive never herd of anything like that but if he was born with it and is still alive he should be fine just leave him in the safe tank for now the other fish were probably just eating all of the food not letting him get enough but to survive just make sure you take good care of him i have 5 chickens that did the same thing one wouldnt grow and i eventually had to separate them from her and she is making a marvelous recovery, i know that a chicken isnt a fish but its pretty much the same concept.

Crystal's answer is right on...she is totally correct....you just have a little runt. As your first answerer says, leave him in the net a little longer and give him some more time to grow.

Maybe you can name him "Squirt."

I would leave him in the fish net. Try to increase the aeration and the temperature!

the higher the temp the faster they grow but shorter they live (and vice versa)
