No, the ex-wife is not a widow because she was no longer married too the guy!! You can only be a widow if you are married and one or the other dies. So you are right!!

A wife becomes a widow upon the death of her husband. An ex-wife, by definition, is no longer a wife. She would not be a widow, unless her current husband dies.

WAS your husband and IS your husband are two different things. The whole point of getting a divorce is to change the marriage status. If you're no longer espoused, you can't be a widow/widower the other dies.

She isn't a widow, they were no longer married, which means she is no longer connected to him in anyway. Only the new wife (if there was one) would be the widow.
